Here is your weekly round-up of what has been going on in and around your local area.
Smith’s Wood
Between 10/01/2026 and 12/01/2026, a residential burglary was committed on Sark Drive.
Theft of motor vehicle – There has been one report of Theft of motor vehicle between 01 January 2026 and 10 January 2026.
Between 13/01/2026 and 14/01/2026, a vehicle was stolen from ISIS Grove.
Theft from a motor vehicle – There has been no reports of Theft from a motor vehicle between 01 January 2026 and 10 January 2026.
Interference with a motor vehicle – There have been no reports of Interference with a motor vehicle between 01 January 2026 and 10 January 2026.
Officers from the Smiths wood neighbourhood team are continuing to conduct proactive patrols and take preventative measures to tackle vehicle crime, across all Smiths wood, Kingshurst and Castle Bromwich.
Simple Steps to Keep Your Vehicle Safe – Keyless ignition owners should use a Faraday pouch for their fob. All drivers should consider a steering lock, park in well – lit visible areas, lock their vehicle, remove valuables, and ensure windows, sunroof, and wing mirrors are closed/ folded. Unfolded mirrors may signal an unlocked car to thieves.
What has been happening? Good news –
Officers visited Brambles Nursery at Yorks wood School, Kingshurst for their topic "people that help us", they also got to sit in a police vehicle.
Officers have been out in the area looking for CCTV opportunities in relation to the recent vehicle cannibalisms across the North of Solihull.
We recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen from September following a tip off from a member of the public.
Officers pulled a driver over after witnessing them on their mobile phone. A quick check revealed that the male was uninsured and only held a provisional licence. The vehicle was seized and he has been reported for the three offences.
Following community intelligence regarding a possible cannabis grow in Smiths wood, the team made an application for a warrant, and it was authorised the same day. The team executed the warrant on the 16th where 50 cannabis plants were found. A female was arrested and interviewed by two of our officers for production of cannabis.
On the 16th the team arrested a 14-year-old boy for Affray after CCTV caught him and another male fighting causing each other serious injuries.
Throughout our shifts the last couple of days the team have also been assisting holding a scene in Balsall Common in relation to a fire in a public.
